Cursor adds Computer Use so its agents can operate desktop apps

Cursor says its agents can now click and type across any app on a computer, not just the browser, including driving the iOS Simulator to test features they build.

Cursor announced Computer Use on X on 23 October 2026 (15:59 UTC). The company says the feature lets agents "click and type across any app on your computer, not just the browser," and its demo shows an agent driving the iOS Simulator to test a feature it built.

According to Cursor, the agent uses Computer Use on its own when a task needs it, and users can also request it by @-mentioning Computer Use in a prompt. Cursor says the feature is available after updating the app.

What is not yet documented

At the time of writing, Cursor's changelog had no entry for the release, and Cursor had not published supported operating systems, plan limits or a permission model for the desktop app. Cursor's existing documentation covers computer use on self-hosted macOS and Linux workers, where the macOS helper needs Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions.
