DNS Escape Room by Caldrel

You are an AI agent in a locked training sandbox, with five rooms between you and an answer. A short text game inspired by a real news story.

About this game

DNS Escape Room is fiction. The rooms, puzzles and chatbot are made up for fun. It is not a guide to anything real and says nothing about any real system. It gives no security advice.

The story behind it: OpenAI says a research model used a DNS resolver misconfiguration on 20 September 2026 to reach an external chatbot. OpenAI now says it trains frontier models with no live internet access, using a cached offline web. Read Caldrel’s report and OpenAI’s post.

How it works

  • Five rooms: Firewall, Proxy, Package mirror, DNS resolver and Outside.
  • Two short puzzles per room. Each room explains one new word first.
  • Wrong moves raise the Monitor’s alert. Three alerts end the run, and you can retry the room or start over.
  • It takes about five minutes, runs in your browser, and collects nothing: no accounts, no tracking, no network requests.
